McNairy County breaks ground on new freestanding emergency room
McNAIRY COUNTY, Tenn. — McNairy County leaders broke ground Friday on a new freestanding emergency room, the first emergency care facility in the community since the county’s hospital closed nearly 10 years ago.

Community leaders and project officials said the facility will provide emergency care, outpatient services, and additional services, allowing residents to receive care without leaving the county.
Partnership with Magnolia Regional Health Center
The project is a partnership with Magnolia Regional Health Center. CEO Jim Hobson said the groundbreaking marks an official start to the project.

“It is really exciting to see it become a reality and to get the project started,” Hobson said. “Having an emergency room here to serve the community will, we believe, have a significant impact on their quality of life, so we’re excited.”
Congressman John Rose, who represents District 6, said the facility addresses a need for rural and agricultural communities in the area.
“The challenges that are there for agriculture, in terms of having emergency care nearby — I think McNairy County is an excellent example of this, and it will be good for the farmers around and this community to have access to emergency care here,” Rose said.
What the facility will include
In addition to emergency care, leaders said the new ER is expected to help keep ambulances in the county more often. The facility will also feature a helipad.
Accessible healthcare in rural communities can have a significant impact on West Tennessee residents. The project is expected to be completed this summer and open to the public in August.
