West TN Storm Shelters opening – 3/15/2026
JACKSON, Tenn. — As we prepare for severe weather, we want to give you updates regarding shelters around West Tennessee.
The following shelters will be open for a safe place to stay during the severe weather.
Carroll County
- Carroll County Jail Lobby located at 200 Norandal Drive in Huntingdon
- Bethel University Library basement located at 105 Campus Drive in Mckenzie
Chester County
- Chester Co. Sheriff’s Office 126 Crook Avenue in Henderson
- Henderson City Hall 121 Crook Avenue in Henderson
Crockett County
- The Alamo Storm Shelter located on Ball Park Loop will be opened at 3 p.m.
Decatur County
- Decatur County Courthouse located at 22 W Main St. in Decaturville is opening at 6pm (allows pets but must be leashed or caged)
- Calvary Baptist Church Parsons, TN beside Dairy Bar
- Mt. Nebo Church Bath Springs, TN
Dyer County
- Shelter is open and located next to gym off North Poplar
Gibson County
- FEMA building to open at 6 p.m.
- Community Safe Room (Gateway Center of Martin), located at 701 N Lindell Street in Martin to open at 4 p.m.
Henderson County
- The Watson Center will be open as an emergency storm shelter at 5:00 pm. Please park on the North side of the building. Use the breezeway entrance between the buildings to access the shelter.
Henry County
- Harrelson, Henry and Lakewood Schools will open at 5 p.m. and remain open until the threat of severe weather has passed.
Madison County
- The Carl Perkins Civic Center will open at 3 p.m.
- Jackson Airport Saferoom will be open to the public starting at 3 p.m. today.
McNairy County
- The Storm Shelter at Selmer Elementary School will be opened tonight at 6:00 p.m. and will remain open until the threat of severe weather has passed.
