Arthur Taylor, affectionately known as “Pip,” passed away peacefully at his home on March 16, 2026. Born on January 2, 1936, in Haywood County, TN, Arthur’s life was marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and a deep connection to the land he cherished. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Brownsville Funeral Home, located at 107 S Lafayette Ave, Brownsville, TN 38012 with Bro. David Peace officiating. Burial will follow at the Providence Cemetery, 21 Shaw Rd., Jackson, TN 38301. Visitation will be held on March 19, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Brownsville Funeral Home.

Arthur served honorably for nine years in the National Guard, a testament to his character and commitment to his community and nation. Following his military service, he devoted much of his life to farming, where he delighted in tending to his cows and embracing the simple yet profound pleasures of rural life.

Above all, Arthur treasured his family. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dottie Lovelace Taylor, who stood by his side throughout their many shared joys and challenges. He leaves his nieces and nephews—Lisa Simpson (Keith), Leigh Cantrell, Phara Williams (Clint), Michael Taylor (Gina), Ken Taylor (Angela), and John Taylor (Kim)—with whom he created countless cherished memories. He also leaves a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews, who brought joy to his later years. Arthur’s sister-in-law, Janie Cantrell (Jerry), was also a valued member of his extended family.

Arthur was preceded in death by his beloved parents, John Thomas and Sarah Elizabeth Alexander Taylor, as well as his brothers, Lloyd Taylor, Edward Taylor, and Raymond Taylor. He was also preceded in death by his nephews Robert Earl Taylor and Alan Taylor.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers who provided devoted support and kindness to Arthur in his final days: Traci Lee, Linda Pirtle, Jennifer Crout, and Jermonica Woods.

Pallbearers for the service will be Blake Alexander, Hunter Gaters, Taylor Outlaw, David Lynn Williams, Tommy Williamson, Phillip Cobb and Johnny Verell.

Honorary Pallbearers are Don Hayes, Shannon Hayes, James Howard, Robert Linningham, Frank Lee, Jerry Cobb, David Williams, Doug Cobb, Alton Williamson, Billy Agee, Dean Cobb and Ray Joyner.

Arthur Taylor’s life was one of steadfast devotion—to his family, his land, and his community. His memory is a blessing to those who had the privilege to share in his remarkable journey. The family requests that memorials be made to the Providence Cemetery, c/o Alton Williamson, 821 Providence Rd., Jackson, TN 38301. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
