Video shows moment skier was pulled to safety after being buried in deep snow
SNOQUALMIE PASS, Wash. (CNN) – A quick-thinking skier helped rescue another who became trapped upside-down in deep snow after a fall.
Ian Deans, who captured the video, said the skier appeared to veer off to the side before getting stuck in the deep powder.
Deans rushed over and helped dig the skier out, clearing his airway and freeing him from the snow.
The incident happened Friday morning at The Summit at Snoqualmie in Snoqualmie Pass, Washington.
Deans said he shared the video on social media to raise awareness about ski safety, especially after the area had a total of 55 inches of snowpack on the ground, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
Deans said the man was safe and did not indicate he had any injuries.
