Educator of the Week: LeeAnn Johnson

GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn. — It’s time to recognize our educator of the week, brought to you by the Tennessee Education Lottery.

Leeann Johnson

Leeann Johnson teaches both French and English at Milan High School. She chose education because of her love for the French language. She shares one part of her job that always puts a smile on her face.

“I’m a work mom to a lot of the other teachers around here. I definitely still like to have a good time. Definitely part of the fun I think of coming to work every day I enjoy my kids but I love my coworkers too we just have a really good time every day, we enjoy our jobs and we coming in and I hope the kids realize how much fun we are having,” Johnson said.

Johnson has been teaching for 32 years. She shares what her favorite part of teaching is.

“My favorite part of teaching is definitely the kids. I enjoy building relationships with the kids and that’s what keeps me going every day,” Johnson said.

Johnson ends by sharing some words of wisdom for aspiring educators.

“If you find something and you’re interested in becoming an educator and you find something that you love to teach and you enjoy the students whatever age. You know I always say to give me the high school kids not the little ones,” Johnson said. “I think as long as you enjoy your subject matter and you enjoy being around whatever age you choose to teach it will be a lot of fun for you.”

Johnson is now eligible for the Tennessee Education Lottery educator of the month award. To vote for her or any other nominees, go to the Tennessee Education Lottery website.
