Pet of the Week: Rocky

This week’s Pet of the Week from Tipton County Animal Shelter is Rocky!

Once abandoned and starving, Rocky is now waiting for a second chance!

Not long ago, Rocky was fighting to survive. He was found abandoned behind his owner’s home, severely underweight and struggling after being left without food. By the time the help arrived, he was in urgent need of care.

But Rocky didn’t give up—and neither did the team at Tipton County Animal Shelter, who stepped in to save him.

Since then, Rocky has been on the road to recovery. With regular meals, care, and attention, he’s gaining weight and growing stronger each day.

What’s stood out most to the people caring for him, though, isn’t just his progress—it’s his personality.

Despite everything he’s been through, Rocky has remained happy, patient, and incredibly trusting. He calmly allows nail trims and brushes while eating.

Rocky has a soft, forgiving nature. When he approached one of the shelter cats to say hello and was met with a swat to the face, Rocky simply walked away—seemingly more hurt in spirit than anything else.

In another moment that stood out, Rocky shared a bagel with a volunteer at a local bakery. Despite having once been starving, he didn’t try to grab the food. Instead, he sat patiently, waiting to be offered a bite.

Rocky has also proven to be social and friendly, happily greeting new people and dogs. He loves to go on adventures and walks and will require a fenced yard for play time and exploring!

Rocky at a glance:

• Dog friendly

• Knows “sit”

• Gentle with food

• Loves people

• Sweet, sensitive personality

After everything he’s endured, he deserves nothing less than a second chance at a forever home that will never let him down again.
