Skyhawks Finish Busy March Slate At Pearl River
POPLARVILLE, Miss. – Competing in its third rodeo in as many weeks to begin the spring schedule, the University of Tennessee at Martin cowboys and cowgirls wrapped up its participation at Pearl River over the weekend.

The Skyhawk women’s squad placed eighth in the standings with 50 points while the men’s team posted 140 points for a ninth-place finish.
Clint Southworth managed points in two phases of calf roping, finishing third in the opening go (11.5 seconds) before that same time was good enough for sixth in average.
In saddle bronc riding, Jacob McFarland claimed fifth-place honors in the short round with a 70-point performance.
Cooper Stone competed alongside East Mississippi’s Ryder Griffith to record 90 points in team roping. They finished second in the short round with a time of 6.2 seconds before placing third in average with a 15.2.
A trio of UT Martin cowgirls accounted for points in barrel racing. Savannah Moran finished fourth in the opening round (15.23), sixth in the short go (15.94) and sixth in average (31.17). Kylie Jo Castor’s 14.92 in the first round was the second-best time in the field while Allie Maxwell’s 15.25 in the same go ranked sixth.
The Skyhawks will take next weekend off before returning to the arena at the 58th Annual UT Martin Spring College Rodeo. Action from the Ned McWherter Agricultural Complex is set for Thursday, April 9 through Saturday, April 11 as tickets are on sale now at https://utmsports.com/rodeotickets.
