Executive director for The Ned talks state grant for upcoming production
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Ned is getting a big boost for one of its upcoming shows.

The center was awarded a Tennessee America 250 Grant through the Tennessee Commission.
“Well today we get to officially announce that we are the recipient of one of the tennessee 250 grants, and were so excited, this is the second round of grants, and we submitted for about 25,000 and they accepted our grant, and gave it to us,” said David McCall, executive director for The Ned.

State officials say the second round of grants was highly competitive, with 365 applications statewide and 194 projects receiving full or partial awards.
“This is an astronomical leap for us, typically, rights and royalties to a show eat up most of the budget to a show so that’s like easily close to like between 5-10,000 just to do a play, especially a title that folks would recognize and resonate with,” said McCall.
This production not only tells the story of our nation’s founding but is planned to also reflect the diversity of the Jackson community Monday. For more information about the grant, click here.
