FedEx driver accused of stealing more than $17,000 worth of  electronics from Walmart, police say

TULSA, Okla. (Gray News) – A FedEx driver was arrested after allegedly stealing more than $17,000 worth of electronics from Walmart, according to police.

According to the Tulsa Police Department, asset protection at a Walmart contacted authorities after noticing packages were repeatedly missing from one FedEx delivery truck and driver.

Asset protection placed tracking devices inside four packages. Three of the boxes were scheduled for delivery to another Walmart.

The FedEx driver, 31-year-old Austin Reichel, delivered two of the boxes, but kept the third.

Surveillance footage later captured Reichel throwing that package into a dumpster, along with internal packaging from the boxes he supposedly delivered earlier that day.

The next day, another tracked package was placed on Reichel’s truck. Although he marked the package as delivered, he never actually dropped it off, according to police.

Tulsa police initiated a traffic stop on Reichel and found the missing package, containing AirPods and cellphones, still in the back of the truck.

Tulsa police said the stolen electronics were worth $17,330.33.

Reichel is charged with larceny from a retailer and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
