Woman accused of stabbing 83-year-old stepfather with knife she wished was sharper
OCALA, Fla. (WCJB/Gray News) — Florida authorities say a woman is facing attempted murder charges for stabbing her stepfather multiple times over the weekend.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Jennifer Gill, 45, was taken into custody Saturday morning after receiving a 911 call about an 83-year-old man who had been stabbed.

Witnesses told deputies that Gill had stabbed the man, a family member, numerous times. The 83-year-old was taken to the hospital with traumatic injuries.
Detectives said Gill admitted to the stabbing in an attempt to kill him.
According to the sheriff’s office, the 45-year-old used a spray bottle with dish soap to blind her stepfather before hitting him with two dull serrated bread knives.
“I know it’s not nice to say, but from doing it, I wish to God [the knives] would’ve been sharp,” Gill reportedly told detectives.
After stabbing and cutting the man, Gill allegedly grabbed his walking cane and hit him several times. Gill told detectives she had wanted to kill the victim for a long time, detectives noted.
Gill claimed her stepfather had been abusive toward her and her mother, but did not share any specific instance of abuse, authorities said.
The mother and other family members shared that they didn’t know about any abuse and described the 83-year-old as quiet. He has health issues, including difficulty standing and walking.
The victim has no criminal record, and the sheriff’s office had received no prior reports of abuse.
Gill has a criminal history, including being arrested multiple times on charges that include battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer, criminal mischief, DUI and drug possession, officials said.
The 45-year-old was booked into the Marion County Jail on the charge of attempted murder. No bond was immediately set.
