“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today,” Woods shared in a statement posted on social media Tuesday. “I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery.”

Earlier on Tuesday, Woods pleaded not guilty in his driving under the influence case, stemming from a Friday rollover crash that occurred in Martin County.

Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek said Woods struck another vehicle and rolled his Land Rover that afternoon. He was attempting to pass a truck on a two-lane road when he swerved to avoid a collision, but clipped the back of the truck’s trailer.

Woods ended up having to crawl out of his passenger side window.

Budensiek said Woods was not injured but showed signs of impairment at the scene and was arrested with DUI. The sheriff noted that he believed Woods to be impaired by medication.

According to the arrest report released by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, Woods’ eyes were bloodshot and glassy, his pupils dilated and he had opioid pills on him when interviewed at the scene of the crash.

Deputies found two white pills, which were identified as the opioid hydrocodone used to treat pain, in his pocket, the report said.

Wood’s Tuesday statement continued, saying he is working on improving himself.

“I’m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally,” he shared. “ I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time.”

Woods, who has been involved in many crashes over the years, is facing charges that include DUI and property damage from Friday’s crash. He is scheduled for arraignment on April 23.
