City of Jackson, TN residents reminded to schedule Bulk Waste Pickups

PRESS RELEASE FROM CITY OF JACKSON

JACKSON, Tenn. – The City of Jackson reminds residents to use the Jackson, TN – Connect App or call 3-1-1 to schedule all bulk waste and yard waste collections, ensuring a streamlined and guaranteed service for maintaining clean and beautiful neighborhoods.

Bulk Yard Waste

“Our new Jackson, TN – Connect App replaced our legacy Ready 311 app and we are pleased with the number of downloads since its launch in October 2025,” said City of Jackson, TN Communications Director Kenneth Cummings I. “The app, which gives residents access to multiple services within our organization, including Bulk Waste scheduling, has been downloaded on over 3500 devices.”

In addition to the city services app, the dedicated employees in our 3-1-1 Call Center handled over 44,000 calls for various services in 2025, including bulk waste.

To manage this demand effectively, the Health and Sanitation Department can schedule up to 175 bulk piles per day. Pickups are not automatic.

Scheduling is essential for efficiency and accountability, guaranteeing piles will be picked up pending weather conditions. Scheduling also ensures items do not sit out longer than necessary, keeping community areas tidy.

Active residents in one- or two-family units receive 12 combined bulk or yard waste collections per calendar year at no extra cost. This is provided in addition to the standard twice-weekly curbside trash collection.

Bulk Waste

This service is available to active residents paying the monthly municipal fee.

Bulk Waste items are generally over 50 lbs or larger than a 96-gallon cart, such as furniture, large machines, and appliances. (Note: Compressors must be removed from appliances), while bulk yard waste can include tree trimmings, branches, grass cuttings, and weeds.

However, residents should not mix Bulk Waste with Yard Waste; they must be separated into two different piles for separate trips.

Waste generated by paid contractors or construction debris is excluded. If a professional was hired, they are responsible for the haul-away.

More information regarding bulk waste processes can be found by visiting bulkwaste.jacksontn.gov.

To schedule your pickup and ensure your items are collected on time, we invite residents to download the Jackson, TN – Connect App by visiting 311.jacksontn.gov, or by calling 3-1-1.
