WBBJ 7 Forecast Update

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:

Our March officially ended up as the 2nd warmest on record in Jackson. We tied or set records for 5 days and only had 4 days below average for the entire month. We averaged over 11° above average per day in the high temperature department. The only year warmer since we have been keeping records was back in 2012.

We are watching a round of showers and weak storms crossing the Mississippi River during the 4pm hour and they are moving east into West Tennessee. Some isolated lightning strikes as well as some pockets of heavy rain can be expected. The severe weather threat is low but some hail or a few strong wind gusts cannot be ruled out. We could see a few more scattered showers and storms on Friday but the main event is still forecast to come by Saturday afternoon/evening. As the front passes on Saturday, cooler weather will be moving in for Easter. As of now, we are expecting any rain and storms this weekend to be wrapped up by Easter morning. THIS WEEK:

Rain chances will be increasing late Thursday and into Friday as well. Chances are not great, but 30-40% of us will see something towards the back half of the work week. A front sitting to the north will slowly drop southward, and with the warm and humid weather, a handful of pop ups showers or weak storms will try to develop with Thursday night into Friday morning being the most likely time during the work week. Do not count on the rain as most of us will miss out until the weekend. Highs did hit the mid 80s again under partly cloudy skies on Wednesday and Thursday. It was a bit breezy again the last couple days as well with morning lows only falling down to the mid 60s in the morning.

Rain chances are in the forecast for Thursday and Friday, but chances are not great. Highs will remain in the low to mid 80s to wrap up the work week and head into the weekend. The winds will remain out of the south and be a tad breezy at times. Skies will be partly cloudy in general and it will be somewhat humid as well. Both nights expect temperatures to fall into the low to mid 60s.

EASTER WEEKEND:

Changes in the weather are coming this weekend as the stalled out front to the north will finally get enough push from the north to pass south of us. As the front moves through, a round of showers and storms is expected. Some severe weather concerns cannot be ruled out yet, so we will need to keep a close eye on the timing of the system as that will play a big factor in the severity of the storms that may develop. As of now, Saturday afternoon and evening appear to be the most likely time to be impacted with showers and storms. They should clear out by Sunday morning for church service but the ground could be wet for Easter Egg hunts Sunday afternoon.

Highs on Saturday will reach the upper 70s before the clouds and showers move in. Expect a breezy day with the winds changing from the south to the northwest Saturday night. Saturday night lows will fall to the mid 40s before we kick off your Easter Sunday. Highs on Easter are forecast to only reach the mid 60s. There should be some sunshine returning during the day on Sunday but clouds are likely and maybe even some showers still in the early morning hours before the sun comes up. Please keep an eye on the forecast this week so you know what to expect and how to dress this weekend. Sunday night lows will fall down to around 40° but a frost of a freeze look unlikely at this time.

NEXT WEEK:
Temperatures next week will be a little cooler on Monday and Tuesday. Another weak dry front will look
to pass through sometime Monday night into Tuesday morning. Highs will reach up to around 70°
on Monday but fall to the mid 60s on Tuesday. We should warm back up to the mid 70s on Wednesday
and upper 70s to near 80° by Thursday. We should see plenty of sunshine for the first part of the week
as well. The winds will come out of the north on Monday and Tuesday but switch back to the south
by Wednesday into Thursday. Morning lows will be the low 40s for the first few nights but as the
humidity increases later in the week, morning lows will begin to climb by Thursday morning. Rain
chances appear to be low for the work week next week.
