Driver dies after his tractor-trailer is ‘pierced’ by timber in crash with log-hauling truck

POLK COUNTY, Fla. (CNN) – A tragic vehicular accident claimed the life of a 44-year-old man in Florida.

Gabriel Beauford’s body was found Wednesday morning on State Road 471 after he crashed into a tractor-trailer that was delivering timber.

According to a preliminary police probe into the incident, Beauford apparently did not notice the truck in front of him was slowing down and preparing to enter a turning lane.

That’s when Beauford crashed his tractor-trailer and was “pierced” by some of the timber that was sticking out from the truck.

The driver of the log truck was not injured. Police said he complied with all relevant safety measures.

The investigation is ongoing, but officials said they do not expect any charges will be filed.
