Humboldt nursing facility reaches finals in statewide cooking competition

HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — Humboldt’s Avondale Health & Rehabilitation Center is one of three finalists in a cooking competition that started with 22 Tennessee nursing facilities in February.

The other finalists are Knoxville’s Lyonsview Health & Rehabilitation and Madisonville’s Monroe Health & Rehabilitation. The final round took place March 25 in Wisconsin.

Public voting opened Monday and runs through Friday on Champion Care’s social media page.

“We bring residents and employees together to get together in the kitchen and make up some dishes then we have vendors come in or officials and anyone from the police department to the mayor of the town to come in and judge on the taste of it,” said Sabrina Kohn, employee engagement and retention director with Champion Care.
