Man accused of beating, breaking bones of a pair of 6-week-old babies due to lack of sleep, authorities say

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (Gray News) – A man is charged after allegedly severely beating two 6-week-old babies, leaving them with broken bones and other injuries, authorities said.

Dillon McCarraher, 23, is charged with four counts of aggravated assault, two counts of endangering the welfare of children and two counts of simple assault.

McCarraher allegedly assaulted the babies at his home between August and September 2025.

Both children were found to have numerous injuries including multiple broken bones, bleeding in their eyes and bruises. A doctor told police the injuries were consistent with physical child abuse and that the babies could not have caused the injuries themselves.

McCarraher told police during an interview that he may have injured both children out of frustration over a lack of sleep, authorities said.

McCarraher allegedly admitted to breaking one of the babies’ arms when he was upset and told investigators he did not know how fragile the child was.

McCarraher is out on $100,000 unsecured bail.
