US fertility rate drops to another record low
(CNN) – The U.S. fertility rate is at a record low. New Centers for Disease Control and Prevention statistics indicate about 3.6 million babies were born last year.
The rate is down about one percentage point from 2024 and roughly 20 percentage points from 20 years ago.
U.S. women are also waiting longer to have children.
A decline in the fertility rate can affect the economy in the long term.
The Trump administration is implementing policies to encourage more people to have children.
