51st Annual World’s Largest Raccoon Hunt returns
DECATUR CO., Tenn.—Hunters and hounds are gathering in Parsons this weekend for the 51st annual World’s Largest Raccoon Hunt.
The family-friendly, no-kill event runs April 9th through the 11th at the Decatur County Fairgrounds.
Dogs compete in judged field trials, treeing raccoons but never killing them.
There’s also a ladies hunt, live entertainment, and plenty of food.
“Everybody that you see working in the kitchen, working any booth you see, is a volunteer. I want to make sure that is known, we have the best community. So, hats off, it is just a wonderful event. If you have never been or if you have always come, we welcome you to Decatur county,” said Nelda Pritchard.
The volunteer-driven event began back in 1976 and has since raised millions of dollars for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and pediatric cancer research.
