JACKSON Tenn.- The Department of Agriculture released the results from their necropsy of the poisoned animals in Trezevant, and found they were not poisoned with the banned substance “Temik” as officers originally thought. Investigators said it was a different banned pesticide that was responsible, but they are not releasing its name. The situation has raised many questions, such as, what goes through the mind of the person or people responsible. “It can range anywhere from someone that’s angry that has a past history themselves of being in pain, and they might strike out at animals or something else that they have control of,” said behavior expert Jim Jones of Pathways Behavioral Health Services. “It could actually just be somebody that doesn’t like pets in the neighborhood and figures they will get rid of them that way.” Experts said residents on the lookout should not be quick to point the finger. “I would be careful not to automatically think you have the individual because they have a strange behavior as apposed to other people.” Jones told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News it was unclear if this threat on animals could lead to a potential threat for residents, “I think it might be too early to answer that, but I would keep my eyes open.” Chief Smith of Trezevant said there is still a $1,000 reward for anyone with information in the case.
