JACKSON, Tenn. – Walkers at the Old Hickory Mall are starting a new trend when it comes to working out. “Early in the morning your body is beginning to open up and it’s a good time to come out and get vigor and get you through the day.” said morning walker, Conrad Delaney. The traditional walk around the mall with a can in your hand just was not enough for this group. So health enthusiast, Virginia Crump decided to step up their morning routine by doing work out DVDs to their heart rate up and their body moving. “That’s what you should do, drink your water and walk but when I saw what they were doing, I’ve done that hour exercise and I’ve burned off so much more calories so much faster,” said another walker, Rickey Brown. It was in January that Crump decided to invite friends, who normally walk outside to join her in side the mall for a new morning exercise routine. She says it is a great way to stay out of the cold and it is also free. “It’s always encouraging to hear those people walking around the mall to stop by and talk about how much weight they have lost. The people who workout with us in the morning have seen some drastic changes in terms of total pounds,” said Crump. It is not just about looking great though, Crump explained. She said it is also about feeling great. “It’s so important your body is physically fit and to get those muscles moving and it creates a good attitude. You’re ready to do whatever you have to do… it’s like come on world I’m ready now!”
