Ground broke in construction of Tyson Tykes

HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — Tyson Foods Humboldt held a ground breaking ceremony for the Tyson Tykes Child Care Facility on Wednesday.

“It’s an opportunity for us to really take information that we heard from our team members, where they tell us what they need, and we act upon it. And today, we’re doing just that with our partners from Kinder Care to create a child care facility that will ultimately support our new processing facility across the street,” said David Bray, Group President of Poultry for Tyson Foods.

This facility will serve around 100 team members with children ages five years and younger. The facility will not cater to just child care, but also provide educational opportunities as well.

“You’re going to see a warm and welcome environment, an engaging environment, high quality, high quality curriculum, engaged teachers, and of course a place where kids feel safe and welcome and learn and get educated,” said Daniel Figurski, President of the Kinder Care Works Division.

Tyson leaders say this move is a step forward towards the future of child care facilities for large employers.

“Labor is an opportunity for a lot of organizations right now, and we’ve decided we’re going to take it upon ourselves to address that need and this facility will give us the opportunity to differentiate and draw more people into our Tyson Foods processing facility,” Bray said.

Over $3 million has been put into the Tyson Tykes Facility, and it’s expected to be completed in 2023.

“People re-entering the labor force require child care. And without it, quite frankly, it’s hard to recruit and retain. And so quality providers like Kinder Care, quality companies like Tyson, get together and form a partnership for the communities and for the families,” Figurski said.
