Dyer County Schools Locked Down After False Report

DYERSBURG, Tenn- According to Dyersburg Police a shooting that caused Dyersburg State Community College and Dyersburg High to lock down for more than an hour, was a result of a falsified police report. Police responded to a call at a house on Lake Road around 1:30 p.m., Monday. According to investigators, the homeowner said he heard someone entering his home unannounced. He grabbed his gun and he and the alleged intruder got into a physical altercation, resulting in the homeowner getting shot in the arm. Police later confirmed that the report had been falsified by the homeowner, who is being treated for a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Both schools were locked down because of their close proximity to where the shooting took place. Police have not said what charges the homeowner will face.
