According to a news release, the D-Wall Deck of the Five Wells Field was named for Daniel Wallace.
The release says that Wallace was a member of the Brownsville Police Department and a former Freed-Hardeman University Lions baseball team player.
The release says that Wallace played on the team in 2012, going with his teammates to win the TranSouth Conference Championship.
“I knew from the get-go Daniel was going to be a big-time pitcher for us,” said Jonathan Estes, FHU head baseball coach. “But as good a pitcher as he was, he was a better teammate.”
“Daniel was a great police officer, friend to many, father to two beautiful children, and a wonderful husband,” BPD said in a statement. “Corporal Daniel Wallace will always have a special place in the hearts and minds of the Brownsville Police Department.”
