Tennessee unemployment claims affected by website outage

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development is responding to a service outage affecting the state’s unemployment system and labor data exchange.

The department says on Sunday afternoon, they were notified of a service interruption that sent the website Jobs4TN.gov offline.

The website, which is used by thousands of Tennesseans each week, provides resources to those seeking jobs as well as processes unemployment claims.

This means until the website resumes normal operation, the Department of Labor and Workforce Development cannot access claimant data to make weekly unemployment benefits.

According to the department, the outage came from equipment problems experienced by Geographic Solutions (GSI), the vendor that operates the Jobs4TN.gov website. Those equipment issues also impacted systems in around three dozen other states.

The department says that GSI is working 24 hours a day to bring the website back online, however there is currently no timeline as to when it may be operational again.

The department says once the system is back up and running, claimants can complete their certifications for any missed weeks, and they will receive a lump sum for any delayed payments.

Those needing to file a new unemployment claim will need to wait for further instructions on how to apply once the system is operational again.

Once information is available, the department will release details on their website as well as their social media pages.
