Madison Co. Sales Tax Receipts Rise

JACKSON, Tenn.-The Madison County Commission met Monday morning at the West Tennessee Ag Research and Education Center. Commissioners voted unanimously to approve spending $3,700 to repair the damaged awning at South Side High School. According to the finance director’s monthly report, this is the richest time of the year for the county. Madison County had a major increase in sales tax percentage growth. “It’s gone up 4.1 percent this month compared to the state, 2.4. This is the first time in 17 months that it’s actually above the state,” said Madison Co. Commissioner Doug Stephenson, The commissioners also praised the South Sigh High School Basketball team on coming within one win from a state championship.
