Alleged School Threats Scare Parents in Bolivar

BOLIVAR, Tenn- A series of alleged Facebook threats had dozens of parents rushing to their children’s school to take them home. This concern after investigators said Trent Wilbanks, a one-time Hardeman County Deputy and Bolivar Police Officer, posted an early morning message on his Facebook page referencing Bolivar Elementary School and the Hardeman County Sheriff’s Department, that included the statement “you best lock and load boys. I’m coming with a vengeance”. Even with police patrolling the school, some parents took their own precautions and ended their child’s school day early. “I am not taking any chances,” said Ashleck Woods, who picked both of her kids up from school. “Overall I feel safe with them going to this school, but I want to be careful.” After morning conferences, Wilbanks was arrested around lunch time and charged with both felony and misdemeanor counts of harassment. Parents said they were still glad that they took their own action. “When you think about so many things happening,” said Carlotta Woods, who picked up her grandson. “This could have been real.” Wilbanks is scheduled to appear in Hardeman County Court on Tuesday morning.
