JACKSON, Tenn. — Monday was a beautiful day to get out and play golf and raise funds for a Jackson Police Department community project. The department hosted the inaugural Brockmeyer Scramble at the Jackson National Golf Course. Those taking part in the golf tournament helped the department raise money for their community fund, which is used to give back to the community and to strengthen the police department’s relationship with city residents. The tournament is named after officer Michael Brockmeyer, who died in October of 2011 of a rare form of leukemia. “He was one of those that everybody loved to be around,” Deputy Chief Barry Michael said. “He was always making people laugh, and he loved to play golf. So, we couldn’t think of a better person to name this after.”
