Man wanted in Union City robbery turns himself in

UNION CITY, Tenn. — A man wanted in a recent robbery and assault that left another man in the hospital has turned himself in. Union City police were notified around 2 a.m. Tuesday by the Obion County Jail that Vernon Cotton had turned himself in. He had been wanted on a warrant for aggravated robbery. Another man wanted in the incident, Marcus Taylor, was arrested on a warrant for aggravated robbery just before noon Friday in the 200 block of West Main Street in Union City, according to police. The victim showed up Oct. 1 at a Union City emergency room and told police Cotton pushed him to the ground and that Taylor struck him with a pistol. A police report says six or seven men then joined in the attack. The men also allegedly took an undetermined amount of money from the victim’s pockets.
