TRENTON, Tenn. — The first ever West Tennessee Hunting Fishing Outdoor Show kicked off on Friday. The event is going on this weekend at the fairgrounds in Trenton. “It’s just the talk of the town right now,” Trenton City Councilman Rickey Graves said. The event features a little bit of everything including boats, tractors and ATVs. “Unbelievable outdoor equipment, just kind of makes you drool just to look around,” Graves said. Graves said an event like this is good for Gibson County. “They’re going to stay in hotels. They’re going to buy gas. They’re going to buy food,” he said. Organizer Philip Colwell said the event is affordable — costing $5 to get in — and family friendly with something for everyone. “They don’t have to go to Memphis,” he said. “You don’t have to drive two hours. You don’t have to go to Nashville.” Colwell said they have vendors in town from all over West Tennessee and also from Arkansas, Mississippi and Alabama. Cast members from Swamp People will be on hand from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. “We got Liz. We got Glenn. We got Jessica with the new baby just born two or three weeks ago, and I got God knows how many emails and calls if she’s bringing the baby and they tell me she’s bringing the baby,” Colwell said. Graves said he is excited to see those television personalities and may do some shopping. “I probably will if my wife will let me do some purchasing this weekend,” Graves said. Organizers said they are already planning for next year. The expo runs through Sunday. For more information, visit www.westtnhuntingfishingexpo.com.
