Local doctor cautions public about epinephrine auto-injector product recall

JACKSON, Tenn. — If you carry an epinephrine autoinjector, there is a product recall that could affect you. The one you have may not work correctly in an emergency. All Auvi-Q injectors have been recalled because they may not deliver the correct amount of the life-saving drug. All of these products currently on the U.S. market, equaling roughly 490,000 packs, are recalled. “If they do not get the proper dosage of the medication, then they might have a severe allergic reaction that is not helped by the medicine and could be potentially fatal,” said Dr. Nora Daher, an allergy immunologist in Jackson. To see if your Auvi-Q units are included in the recall, you can find a link to the product recall page in the Seen on 7 section of our website. Call your doctor right away for a prescription for another epinephrine autoinjector.
