Students enjoy ‘Superhero Day’ at Denmark Elementary School

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — Students traded in their uniforms for capes Friday as part of Red Ribbon Week at Denmark Elementary School. Students were able to dress as their favorite superhero to end the week of learning about healthy lifestyles. The elementary school hosted a health fair and invited community heroes to come educate students about taking care of themselves. Outdoor games and obstacle courses also were set up to get students moving. “Healthy lifestyle living means being active, and we want kids to be physically fit because when they’re physically fit, they’re mentally fit and definitely that’s going to impact teaching and learning,” Principal Catherine Garrett said. Red Ribbon Week is held annually every October to promote awareness for prevention of drug and alcohol abuse.
