Students have ‘Hoedown on the Grounds’ at Nova Elementary School

JACKSON, Tenn. — Students traded their thinking caps for cowboy hats Friday at Nova Elementary School. Friday marked the 10th annual “Hoedown on the Grounds” for students to celebrate the end of the first nine weeks of school. Students dressed in their best cowboy attire and boots to play games on school grounds. The school follows the Positive Behavior Intervention Support system and rewards those following the rules each quarter. Aimee Evans, the organizer and school counselor, said this is a way to motivate students to do well. “They know that when they do what they are supposed to do at our school that they get the opportunity to be celebrated, because when you make good choices, we reward people,” Evans said.
