Bio-stem students receive White Coat Ceremony

NORTH JACKSON, Tenn. — Local high school students are being recognized for their hard work.

Thursday, North Side High School hosted a White Coat Ceremony for their bio-stem students.

20 students graduated.

The students went through training of various course topics like OSHA training.

They also had to learn science tools and lab safety precautions.

Bio-stem instructor, Danielle Shaw-Jones, says this will help set students up for a wide variety of career choices.

“They can go into lab technicians… Doctors… Nursing… Ag… Forestry… anything like that. And with the training that they get, the laboratory skills they get hey can also go into technology fields as well… Because we’re not just working the laboratory, but we’re also going to work with things like robotics, computer programming and things like that,” explained Danielle Shaw-Jones, bio-stem instructor.

The bio-stem program is open for the next group in January.
