UofM Lambuth Planetarium participates in 6th Annual STEAM Festival

JACKSON, Tenn. — A local college’s planetarium will participate in a festival.

The Planetarium at the University of Memphis Lambuth is participating in this year’s STEAM Festival.

It’s the 6th annual Steam Festival, and the event was founded by the Discovery Center in Murfree Spring.

The festival incorporates events hosted by a wide range of museums, schools, community centers, and other attractions.

It kicked off Friday at 1:30 p.m. with a public show at the planetarium.

“We love it,” said UofM Lambuth Planetarium Coordinator Holley Wood. “Kids come for all sorts of reasons and students come for all sorts of reasons. We have field trips. We love to get people interested in space. Whether it’s looking up at the night sky, or whether they want to carry on and become astronauts.”

The University of Memphis Lambuth looks to participate in this event annually.
