Arkansas delegation wants answers on transmission line
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) – The Arkansas congressional delegation is asking the U.S. Department of Energy to slow down the review process for a planned wind-energy transmission line that would cross the state.
The department issued the final environmental impact statement for the multi-billion dollar Plains and Eastern Clean Line Transmission Project on Wednesday, noting its preferred path through Oklahoma and Arkansas and the preferred locations for conversion stations.
The delegation issued a statement Thursday saying they would like answers to concerns about the 700-mile, high-voltage wind energy transmission line that would start at the Oklahoma panhandle and traverse through Arkansas and a part of Tennessee.
The delegation and Oklahoma’s attorney general have opposed giving the power of eminent domain in land negotiations to the company spearheading the project, Clean Line Energy Partners LLC.
