Bolivar Family Dollar employee robbed at gunpoint

BOLIVAR, Tenn. — A Bolivar Family Dollar assistant manager was robbed Monday morning after leaving the store with a bank deposit. According to reports, two men wearing hoodies ambushed the employee, demanding money while aiming a gun at his head. “Basically, two possibly black males subjects wearing hoodies robbed the assistant manager as he was coming out of the store to make a deposit,” said Investigator Dwayne Futrell of the Bolivar Police Department. Once the two men got the deposit, they fled on foot, getting away with more than $5,000. Something that has investigators stunned is the fact that it occurred at the Family Dollar, about two blocks away from the Bolivar Police Department. This is the third dollar store robbery in West Tennessee within the last four days. Futrell says he’ll take a look into those incidents but doesn’t believe the robberies are connected. “I’m going to reach out to other counties that had these so-called robberies in their county. I just really think it was an isolated incident the way it happened.” No one was hurt in the incident. Those with information regarding the robbery are asked to call Bolivar police at 731-658-4284.
