USJ’s Hughes heading to UCF

USJ’s Clayton Hughes is taking his basketball talents to the sunshine state. The Bruins senior signed his letter of intent on Tuesday to join the University of Central Florida next fall. “It’s a relief. All this hard work is paying off,” Hughes said. “It’s a blessing that I get to continue playing basketball at the next level. I’m extremely excited for it. It’s a surreal feeling.” Hughes chose Central Florida over other schools because of the strong impression of their coaching staff. “I really clicked with the coaching staff. They believed in me as a player and thought I could do special things at the next level,” Hughes said. “And I could really see myself at UCF. Go in there as a student and athlete and be really successful.” The Knights are in the American Athletic Conference. Some of their conference opponents are UConn, Cincinnati and Memphis.
