Carroll Co. deputies seek man after finding $20K worth of pot in car

CARROLL COUNTY, Tenn. — Authorities say a traffic stop uncovered more than $20,000 worth of drugs and put the owner on the run. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Department says they found 22 pounds of marijuana in the car of Austin Atwater early Thursday morning. Deputies say they found Atwater asleep in his car at a stoplight, and after he couldn’t give them any ID, he took off and eventually ditched his car. That’s where the sheriff’s department says they found a bale of marijuana. “This would definitely be considered to be possession with intent to resell,” Carroll County Sheriff Andy Dickson said. “That’s not the amount that you would find for your everyday personal use.” Authorities say they still are looking for Atwater and believe he was coming from Jackson with the marijuana. If you know of his whereabouts, call the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department at 731-986-8947.
