Town saddened by girl’s slaying seeks ‘Justice for Gabbi’

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. (AP) — While the small town of Scottsville grieves the death of a 7-year-old girl, Kentucky State Police have charged a man with murder and sex crimes in the case.

Townspeople said Friday the death of Gabriella Doolin is something they never expected there. Allen County Judge-Executive Johnny Hobdy said everyone will share the family’s grief.

On Friday, six days after Gabbi was found dead in a creek, police arrested 38-year-old Timothy Madden and charged him with murder, kidnapping, rape and sodomy. He is being held on $1 million bond. Madden says he is innocent.

Resident Chris Carter, who has four children, says he returned to the area after college to raise his family. But he says Gabbi’s death has changed the way people think and made him a more cautious parent.
