Annual Fall Fest returns to local church

JACKSON, Tenn.–Fall festivals are a time for families to gather and enjoy rides, community and good food.

One church opened its doors to host an event with that as the emphasis.

“Doing an event like this gives us an opportunity to reach out to people, and well probably, and some that may not frequent the doors on Sunday morning. But through an event like this, we have a chance to connect with them,” said Richard Bragg, Pastor, Poplar Heights Baptist Church.

Pastor Bragg shares some of the fun attractions that kids and families were able to interact with.

“We have, as you can see behind me the big jumpers. The kids love them. The slide. So that’ll be a big attraction this year for sure,” Bragg continues “We have a hayride outside. There’s also a car smash, the local fire department, some of those men got together and brought a car out for us to beat up and have a good time.”

One of the passions behind these annual events is to have a safe place where children can grow and enjoy themselves freely.

“It helps open up the church to these children and helps begin to lay a foundation to understand what church is, and as we continue to interact with them, to teach them, to set their own standards and help them understand what it means to be a leader” Bragg said.

The event hosted many participants and the partnering churches hoped to give these families a fun escape.

“The families that are in the neighborhood here and across the city, a safe place to come to and enjoy some family fun and activities, without worrying about the difficulties in the world”, said Randy Nicholas, Executive Director at Child Evangelism Fellowship.

The Fall Fest is an annual event. But another event coming up is a fundraiser concert held at West Jackson Baptist Church on November 7, at 7 p.m. It will feature Guy Penrod.
