A gunman entered the post office around 12:13 p.m., brandished a gun at the employee and demanded cash, according to the Madison County Sheriff’s Department. “I Can’t imagine why anyone would want to hold up a post office,” resident Robert James said. “They must have gotten away with very little money.” The gunman then ran out the front door, leaving with an unknown amount of money. No injuries were reported. The suspect is described as a black male from 16 to 22 years old with a thin build and standing about six feet tall, according to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. With officers canvassing the neighborhoods surrounding the post office looking for any sign of their suspect, residents said its left their small quiet community a little uneasy “It’s really sad,” James said. “That we can’t even as a nation in a little country place like this have a little old post office.” Postal inspectors are working to determine how much money was taken.
