First Presbyterian Church holds Kirkin’ of the Tartans service
JACKSON, Tenn. — One local church holds a traditional service that dates back over twenty years in Jackson.
On Sunday, the Kirkin’ of the Tartans was held at the First Presbyterian Church.
It is an American tradition that celebrates the Scottish heritage of the Presbyterian Church.
This is also the day the church is celebrating All Saints Sunday, where members of the church remember the faithfully departed.
The majority of the music comes from or is related to reformation and Celtic tradition.
Pastor John White says he is happy with the turnout.
“It feels wonderful,” Pastor White said. “It’s always a great thing for a preacher to have a full church. That always makes a pastor happy. It was good to see so many people from the community other than our church members. It’s always good to see our church members of course, but we are all a part of the same body. That’s the body of Christ.”
