Holiday cheer comes to a local city’s downtown

SAVANNAH, Tenn.—Downtown Savannah has been transformed into a winter holiday treat for locals and visitors.

Christmas on Main Street has something for everyone, with a variety of attractions, including ice skating, photo opportunities, food and more.

One attendee drove over an hour to explore the site for the first time, with the hopes of experiencing something new.

“Most looking forward to my step daughter and hopefully my wife to ice skate for the first time. They’ve never done it. The… my stepdaughter, she can roller blade a little bit, but I don’t know about on a thin blade of, with on ice, you know,” said Zac Smith, attendee.

“Christmas on Main has become a staple here in Savannah, TN. It really is, truly our very own Hallmark movie,” said Delaney Timberman, committee member of the Christmas on Main.

“There is nothing we love more than being able to provide the Christmas spirit for not only our community members, but for our visitors, for our school children,” Timberman said.

Participants were also able to explore.

Rylan Melson, attendee said, “Face painting, you can go to Santa’s village, and see Santa and Mrs. Claus.”

Many came out to gather holiday pictures as well.

“We’re very proud that Christmas on Main became a popular attraction to take pictures. So it’s a holiday backdrop for family photos, for our formal dance, at the high school, which is Santa Switch, and that’s taking place tonight. And then we’re also fortunate enough at times to have people propose here in downtown Savannah,” Timberman said.

The Christmas on Main Street will continue for the next two weekends until December 17.
