Man Guilty of Aiding Escape

A Kentucky man has pleaded guilty to helping a former Army ranger who was convicted of rape escape from custody and flee the state. Fayette District Judge T. Bruce Bell on Wednesday sentenced 42-year-old John Lee Williams of Lexington to forty-five days in jail with credit for time served. Police say Williams was seen on a surveillance video in the parking lot of a Georgetown drug store with 29-year-old John Calvin Buckley IV not long after Buckley walked away from his trial on charges of rape, sodomy, assault and unlawful imprisonment of an ex-girlfriend. Buckley, who has had combat training, is the subject of a national manhunt. Williams was on probation for an unrelated felony when he helped his former cellmate escape.
