North Jackson shooting witnesses searching for answers

JACKSON, Tenn. — Residents off Tinker Hill Cove in north Jackson are still looking for answers after a Monday night shooting. “I looked out the window, and next thing you know there’s six or seven cop cars out there,” resident Amber Allgood, who lives in the building next to where the shooting took place, said. “Then we found out that somebody had gotten shot and you know, we had no idea what was going on, but it was really scary.” Authorities said just after 8 p.m. they responded to a man who was shot inside a home, but witnesses tell WBBJ the bullets went flying outside. “He just got off work,” said Sidarius Ridley, who said he is friends with the victim. “He came to play the game with me like he does all the time. He got a phone call, went outside and just heard shots.” Ridley said he ran outside after hearing six gunshots and found his 27-year-old hit by one of the bullets. “They shot that many times and he only got hit in the hip and it came out his leg, but he’s good now though. He’s just in pain,” Ridley said. Jackson police have released little information on the investigation, saying they’re still reviewing video and trying to identify the vehicle and suspect involved. Investigators said they went door-to-door Tuesday talking with residents. Those who spoke with WBBJ said it’s scary seeing something like this happen so close to home. “That’s kind of super close to home, so it’s kind of scary to think about,” Allgood said. “I’ve got my son in there, and I don’t want to think about that kind of stuff happening super close to my house.” Jackson police have not identified the victim or given an update on his status.
