TRENTON, Tenn. — A birthday party gets violent in Gibson County Friday night. Police said a 41 year-old woman was shot in the leg after a fight. “They came up in the front yard and just randomly started shooting,” Lt. James Wilson with the Trenton Police Dept. said. Investigators said they were first called to the West 10th Street home around 10 p.m. Friday night to help break up a fight. Then, 20 minutes later, they were called again this time due to gunfire “We believe the two calls are connected, the shooting was related to the fight,” Lt. Wilson said. “But we don’t believe this was a random act.” Residents said after Trenton Police left the home for the first time Friday night more people came back to the home arguing in the front yard. That’s when residents said they heard more than 6 shots ring out and a car speed away. “People are crazy and just reckless,” resident Aaron Hinson said. “So it doesn’t surprise me that this happened.” Hinson and his family live next door to where the shots were fired and although this violence could put a damper on trick or treat they’re just taking extra precautions. “It’s a little wild to think that someone only a few doors down could get shot,” Hinson said. “I’m just going to keep the kids close and my family close.” With no shooter in custody and little leads to go off of officers said this Halloween they’ll be stepping up visibility. “We’ll have extra officers coming in on patrol,” Wilson said. “Obviously we’re going to have a heightened sense of safety.” Trenton Police said there is a 10 p.m. curfew for anyone under 18 on Halloween. If you have any information that might be able to help find suspects in this shooting call investigators at (731) 855-1413.
