THP out to save lives with ‘seat belt blitz’
JACKSON, Tenn.-A warning from the Tennessee Highway Patrol as they are cracking down on drivers in hope of saving lives.
Starting Friday, the THP will perform a ‘seat belt blitz’ in the Jackson district. That means troopers will specifically be looking for drivers and passengers not wearing their seat belts.
They said they will make no exceptions as you will get a ticket if you are not buckled up.
Officers said you are seven times more likely to survive a crash if you are restrained.
“We’re going with everything we have. We’re bringing all the stops out we can. We still have people dying in crashes that are not buckled up. That’s not acceptable,” said Lt. Brad Wilbanks of the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Lieutenant Wilbanks said the goal of the ‘Seat belt Blitz’ is to change people’s driving styles and to save lives in the process.
