Dr. Danielle Shutes to join Tyson Learning Center in Humboldt

HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — Dr. Danielle Shutes has been named Center Director of Tyson Learning Center.

A partnership between Tyson Foods and KinderCare, the Tyson Learning Center is the new child care facility that will support workers at Tyson Food’s Humboldt plant.

A news release states Dr. Shutes brings over 10 years of experience in the educational field, previously serving as a school teacher, an assistant principal and more. She’s a Tennessee native who earned a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice and a Master of Education at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, as well as an Educational Specialist degree and a Doctorate of Educational Leadership from Trevecca Nazarene University.

“It’s exciting to be returning to my roots and passion in early childhood education,” said Dr. Shutes. “I really enjoy working with families and bringing quality care to our children. One of my favorite books is, ‘If You Plant a Seed’ by Kadir Nelson. I share this with my students because it teaches readers that whatever characteristics you ‘plant’ and nurture, will grow.”

The release states Dr. Shutes will be hiring and developing a team of best-in-class educators, while also partnering closely with parents in efforts to provide affordable and quality care and education for their children.

Humboldt’s Tyson Learning Center is expected to be operational within the year, and will support up to 100 children five years old and younger while employing a staff of 18.

According to a news release, the center will be operated as an early childhood learning center by KinderCare and subsidized by the company to allow for lowers costs for Tyson team members.
