Lexington hosts inaugural “Shop with a Cop”
LEXINGTON, Tenn. — Hot on the heels of Super Saturday, several kids in Lexington were on the hunt for bargains with their crime stopping partners for the Shop with a Cop event.
The Lexington Police Department held their inaugural Shop with a Cop Saturday morning.
Officers from the police department, Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, Tennessee Highway Patrol, and more escorted kids through a busy morning.
“We’ve gotten overwhelming support from the business community and local citizens and when they leaned about the program they told us that financially businesses have closed their doors and just allowed us to come in,” Lexington Police Department Captain Jeff Middleton said.
Around 25 kids were able to participate in Saturday’s program, and the Lexington Police Department says they hope it continues to grow.
