Weather Update – 10:45 p.m. Monday
A few showers are lingering in West Tennessee tonight. Most of the rain is light but could be heavy briefly as it moves east overnight. We’ll return to drier conditions tomorrow under cloudy skies. Temperatures will start in the upper 40s and low to mid 50s Tuesday morning but warm up to the mid and upper 60s after noon. A warm front will begin moving through the Mid-South on Tuesday night returning the chance for rain to the area, but the next significant chance for rain isn’t expected until Wednesday morning.
The ingredients all seem to be coming together to give West Tennessee a significant chance for severe weather between Wednesday morning and Wednesday night. All modes of severe weather are going to be possible including damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes. The greatest risk for severe weather is forecast for locations in West Tennessee that live closet to Interstate 40 and points south where energy in the atmosphere will be highest. Unfortunately, these storms will likely be very scattered so pinpointing exactly when and where this threat will be realized is very difficult even 6 hours, let alone 36 hours before the event.
